Having a System in Place
When life gets messy, you can rely on your system
I’m coming to realize even more these days how important it is to have a routine in place, especially when it comes to my productivity. A few months ago my husband and I found out we are expecting! It was a bit of a surprise, but a welcome one. And with pregnancy symptoms, my whole daily routine got thrown out the window. I felt awful for a number of weeks, and could only bear to do the very minimum. But I still had to perform my work duties and do some basic tasks every day.
Now that I’m back up and feeling better and we’re well on our way to meeting our baby, I’m continuing to be very grateful for the productivity routines and systems I’ve had in place that are sustaining me. And I’m using the next few months of pregnancy to shift what I need for when I have a newborn to care for.
I have a nearly completely digital system. It’s what works for me. It stays relatively clean, I can edit quickly, everything syncs, and I know where everything (or nearly everything) is with minimal stress. I don’t see this changing any time soon. Everything I need is available through my phone apps, so I can still get a lot done when my body is not wanting to move… or later on when I am pumping and need to be seated and relaxed for a period of time.
