How I Process Meeting Notes

As a professional, and a professional who seeks out productivity tools, I’m always looking for better ways to take meeting notes. I work at a public library, so my day-to-day office life looks different than what some may think. Many of my meetings are quick or informal, and very few of us do digital note-taking. (Many of my co-workers are in variations of the Planner Community, and have fancy pens and get Japanese planners, and while that’s not my thing, I appreciate the joy they get from it.)

I currently (and have for a number of years) use Evernote as my main note-taking app, my main notebook. One thing I like about it is the ability to sync my Google Calendar into the app, and attach notes to calendar events. This is HUGE for future planning, as I can drop in notes and information for an upcoming meeting, and have everything ready for me when the meeting arrives. This has become a ride or die feature of a notes app for me — if it doesn’t have this functionality, I tune out. I rely on it way too much to let it go. Which is one of the reasons I still use Evernote, despite a lot of the hate they sometimes get online. Regardless, for nearly every meeting I attend I have my phone with the Evernote app pulled up so I can either refer to the notes I’ve already made, or take notes for later.
