What I’m Doing to Improve my 2024

I’m not a fan of New Year’s Resolutions. I’m a fan of deciding to start doing something to improve yourself on a random Tuesday, and not waiting until some “ideal” time. All of these are things I started in 2023 on random days and as we’re reaching the time of year when people’s New Year’s Resolutions start to fall apart, I want to maintain my interest in these goals and keep them up.

Unsubscribe from things

This has been something I do in fits and starts — assessing my subscriptions of apps and services as well as newsletters. The newsletters are easy enough, but can be trouble to undertake. I’m a big fan of Inbox Zero, and sometimes I just want to clear out the noise from my email. But I also need to take time out of my day to systematically unsubscribe from newsletters I’m simply deleting so I don’t have to deal with them anymore.

One thing I recognized is that I have multiple email inboxes, and normally I check them all on my phone. I’m more inclined to unsubscribe from a mailing list if I’m at my desk on my laptop, so I set up autoforwarding to my main…
